After several years of research, writing, and revising - Dummy Days has hit the bookstores. It's a fascinating new book that chronicles the careers of five of America's favorite ventriloquists from radio and early TV - Edgar Bergen, Senor Wences, Paul Winchell, Jimmy Nelson, and Shari Lewis. Also included are sections about Ed Sullivan, Frank Marshall - a master figure maker, the Juro Novelty Company, and the Vent Haven Museum - a "retirement home" for dummies. It's filled with vent history, nostalgia, rare photos, and much more.

The above photo of Bruce and Jerry is included in
the Dummy Days section about ventriloquists who got their start
with one of the many Juro ventriloquist dolls
manufactured in the '50s, '60s, and '70s.
Although the author, Kelly Asbury, is not a vent himself,
he has long been fascinated by the art.
